Faculty Governance
The College of Business and the University of Michigan – Dearborn operate under a shared governance system. Faculty governance is exercised most directly through regular meetings of the entire Governing Faculty. The Governing Faculty, through the COB By-Laws, have authorized a number of faculty committees to assist the Governing Faculty in their work. These committees, and the elected members currently serving on them, are as follows:
- Executive Committee:
Five members of professorial staff are appointed by the Regents based on the recommendation of the COB faculty. The Committee is chaired ex officio by the Dean. Current members are Young Ro (term expires 2013), Robert Steel (2013), Brian Green (2014), Heiwai Lee (2014), and Robert Blatz (2015).
- Governing Faculty Secretary:
Michele Yoder
- Graduate Curriculum Committee:
Maggie Guo (2013), Bruce Bublitz (2013), Heiwai Lee (2014), Kirk Philipich (2015), Jun He (2015). The committee is supported by non-voting members representing the graduate office and the administration.
- Undergraduate Curriculum Committee:
Alice Xie (chair, term expires 2014), Chris Samfilippo (2013), Michele Yoder (2013), Karen Strandholm (2015), and Kevin Kobelsky (2015). The committee is supported by non-voting members representing the undergraduate office and the administration.
- Assurance of Learning Committee:
Committee is chaired ex officio by the Assurance of Learning director, Claudia Kocher. Current members are Magali Valero (term expires 2015), Jun He (2015), Elif Izberk-Bilgin (2013), Vivek Singh (2014), and K.H. Padmanabhan (2014)
- Promotion and Tenure Committee:
Kamalesh Kumar (term expires 2013), Don Rossin (2013), Alice Xie (2014), Yi Maggie Guo (2015), and Kelly Cai (2015)
- Scholarship and Awards Committee:
Kelly Cai (chair, term expires 2013), Maggie Guo (2014), K. Park (2015), Mary Howard (represents graduate office) and Lynda Dioszegi (represents undergraduate office)
The primary campus-wide instrument of faculty governance, the Faculty Senate, has as its COB representatives Professors Barbara Klein (term expires 2013), Karen Strandholm (2014), and Vivek Singh (2015).
